Music has always been a part of Ben’s life. He started taking violin lessons at age 2 in the Suzuki method and continued on through the beginning of high school when he added Suzuki viola. Outside of violin and viola lessons he began playing with different regional youth ensembles such as the Wheeling Symphony Youth Orchestra until being accepted to Interlochen Arts Academy as a viola performance major graduating in 2005. Ben continued on to Baldwin Wallace University - Conservatory of Music for undergraduate in viola performance (05-10), studying with Louise Zeitlin. Since 2010, Ben has worked as a freelance violist performing with numerous area string quartets, the Central Ohio Symphony Orchestra and the McConnel Arts Chamber Orchestra. As a violinist he has played with Irish, bluegrass, and rock groups across Ohio and the surrounding states including Bob Ford and Friends for the last 7 years and is a regular performer at the Dublin Irish Festival with him.
