~ About My Work ~
Repairs - Restoration - New Making
I started my life as a luthier and restorer at The Loft Violin Shop in Columbus, Ohio. I began as an apprentice in 2004 working alongside and learning from owner David Schlub, Linda Blosser (graduate of the Redwing School of Violin Making) and Edson Puozzo (graduate of the Cremona School of Violin Making). As an apprentice I first learned how to repair and restore classical stringed instruments, and then began work on making instruments. When I started as an apprentice I remember there were two important lessons that were instilled in me from the beginning. The first of these things was “do no damage”. Much like the phrase from doctors “do no harm”. The second was to treat every instrument with respect. These first two lessons I believe are some of the most important and can never be re-stated enough.
Aside from my training at The Loft, I also regularly attend workshops across the United States on instrument repair and restoration. Workshops include the University of New Hampshire's Violin Craftsmanship Institute and the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts Violin Repair Workshop with Hans J. Nebel.
I am currently a member of The Violin Society of America, and the Michigan Violin Makers Association.
